It’s hard to believe that I arrived in the USA only a week ago. Fieldwork for my project, studying the thermal physiology of the Nebria beetles from the Cascades Range, is in full swing and I feel like I’m slowly getting a handle on beetle identifications. Very slowly.
A year ago today, I began an adventure that was entirely unexpected and which changed my year completely, in a very good way. I've already written about that adventure. It was an unbelievable trip - quite literally! When I got back to Melbourne, I could scarcely comprehend that I'd just spent a week at sea on a yacht sailing from Bali to Broome. Now I'm preparing for another adventure - this time it's one I've been planning for nearly a year.
What can I say? I love the mountains. That's what drew me to my PhD project and I've been lucky enough to spend most of the summer and autumn up here. Here you'll find some ramblings about various mountains I've explored in the search for grasshoppers, as well as other adventures. Enjoy!
